Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 25, 2026
BAGL ("the app") is a grocery-list app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. BAGL is private by design: your data stays on your own devices and in your personal iCloud account, and the developer does not collect, receive, or have access to any of it. This policy explains what that means in plain language.
The short version
- BAGL has no accounts and no sign-in.
- Everything you create — stores, lists, items, prices, and notes — is stored on your device. If iCloud sync is on, it also syncs through your own private iCloud account across your Apple devices.
- The developer collects no personal information and has no access to your content, whether it's on your device or in iCloud.
- BAGL has no ads, no analytics, and no third-party tracking.
Information BAGL stores
BAGL stores the content you create — your stores, categories, items, prices, lists, notes, and templates — on your device using Apple's on-device storage. If you turn on iCloud sync (see below), that same content also syncs through your private iCloud account so it stays up to date across your devices. In neither case does the developer receive it: BAGL has no server of its own, and the developer has no access to your iCloud account. BAGL does not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, or any other personal information, and it never asks you to create an account.
iCloud sync
BAGL can keep your data up to date across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac using iCloud. Sync is off until you turn it on in the app's Settings, and works entirely through your own private iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database):
- Your synced data is stored in your personal iCloud account, tied to your Apple ID. The developer has no access to it and receives no copy.
- Apple stores and processes it on your behalf under Apple's Privacy Policy and iCloud terms.
- You can turn sync on or off at any time in the app's Settings, under "Sync with iCloud." With it off, BAGL keeps your data only on that device.
- Turning sync off — or deleting the app — does not by itself remove data already synced to your other devices or held in iCloud. See "Your data, your control" below for how to remove it everywhere.
Sharing and exporting (your choice)
Some features let you move your own data, always at your initiative:
- Share — you can share a list as a text file through the standard share sheet. Where it goes (Messages, Mail, Notes, and so on) is entirely up to you.
- Export & Import — you can save a backup file of your data wherever you like, such as the Files app, and import it later. The file is created on your device and handled by you; the developer never receives it.
BAGL never transmits your data on its own — sharing only happens when you choose it.
System features
BAGL uses a few of Apple's on-device features:
- Spotlight — your list names may be indexed in Spotlight on your device so you can search for them. This index stays on your device.
- Siri & Shortcuts — BAGL offers Shortcuts and App Intents (for example, adding an item to a list). They run on your device.
- Home Screen quick actions — shortcuts to your lists, generated on your device.
These are handled by Apple's frameworks on your device and do not send your data to the developer.
Children's privacy
BAGL is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it knowingly collects none from children either.
Your data, your control
Because your data lives on your own devices and in your private iCloud account, you stay fully in control of it. You can edit or delete individual items, lists, and stores in the app, or remove everything, at any time; if sync is on, those changes apply across your devices. Deleting the app removes its data from that device — but if iCloud sync is on, it does not remove data already synced to your other devices or held in iCloud. To clear it everywhere, delete your content within BAGL first (the deletion syncs), or remove BAGL's data from your iCloud settings. The developer keeps no copy of your data, so there is nothing on the developer's side to request, export, or delete.
